Game Console Repair
PS5 vs Xbox HDMI Repair: What Is Different?
PS5 and Xbox HDMI repairs are similar in concept but different in board design, connector placement and complexity.

Both PS5 and Xbox consoles use standard HDMI connectors, but the internal board layout, shielding and component placement differ significantly. These differences affect repair complexity, part sourcing and turnaround time.
The PS5 uses a more compact board design with the HDMI port positioned near the retimer chip. When the port is damaged, the retimer sometimes needs attention too, especially if the console was used with a damaged port for an extended period. PS5 HDMI repair is one of the most common mail-in jobs at JWS.
Xbox Series X has a larger, more spread-out board. The HDMI port replacement itself can be somewhat more accessible, but the heavier shielding and thermal paste cleanup add time to the disassembly process. Xbox One models vary — some are straightforward while others have known weak points around the HDMI connector pads.
Both repairs require controlled hot air soldering, fresh solder and careful pin alignment. JWS tests video output at multiple resolutions after port replacement to confirm stable signal. Whether you need PS5 HDMI repair or Xbox HDMI repair, the process starts with diagnostics and a quote before any soldering begins. Mail-in repair is available for both.
