How to Ship a Console for Mail-In Repair Safely

Shipping a console for repair? Follow these packing tips to make sure your device arrives safely.

Mail-in repair is a great option when there is no qualified repair shop nearby, especially for console HDMI port repair, board-level diagnostics and micro-soldering work that many local shops cannot handle.

To ship a PS5, Xbox or Nintendo Switch safely: use a box at least 3 inches larger than the console on all sides, wrap the console in anti-static bubble wrap, fill empty space with packing paper or foam so nothing shifts, and do not include power cables or controllers unless the shop asks for them.

Always use a shipping carrier with tracking and consider adding insurance for the declared value of the device. USPS Priority, UPS Ground and FedEx Home Delivery all work well for console shipments.

Before shipping, submit the mail-in repair form so JWS knows to expect your device. Print a copy and include it inside the box. After arrival, JWS inspects the device and contacts you with a diagnosis and quote before any work begins. Free return shipping is included when you approve and proceed with the repair.
