How Long Does a Phone Screen Repair Actually Take?
Most phone screen replacements take 30 to 90 minutes. Here is what affects the time and what to expect at a repair shop.

One of the most common questions before a screen repair is: how long will it take? The short answer: most phone screen replacements are completed in 30 to 90 minutes. But the actual time depends on the phone model, the type of damage and what the technician finds once the phone is opened.
iPhone screen repairs: 30–60 minutes. Modern iPhones (iPhone 11 and newer) are designed with a relatively accessible screen assembly. The process involves removing the pentalobe screws, disconnecting the battery and display cables, transferring small components (earpiece speaker, Face ID module, proximity sensor) from the old screen to the new one, and reassembling. The transfer of small components is the most time-consuming step because these parts are delicate and must be handled carefully to preserve Face ID and True Tone functionality.
Samsung screen repairs: 45–90 minutes. Samsung phones typically take longer because the screen is adhered to the frame with industrial-strength adhesive and sealed for water resistance. Removing the back glass or screen requires controlled heat to soften the adhesive without damaging internal components. Curved-edge Galaxy S and Note models add complexity because the curved glass requires more careful handling and precise adhesive application during reassembly.
What adds time. If the screen is severely shattered with glass fragments inside the phone, cleanup takes extra time to prevent debris from damaging other components. If the screen damage also affected the frame (bent or dented), the frame may need straightening or replacement before the new screen fits properly. And if the technician discovers additional damage during the repair — a torn Face ID cable, water damage, or a damaged connector — that extends the timeline.
Same-day vs next-day. Most screen repairs at JWS are completed same-day, often while you wait. For less common models where parts need to be ordered, the repair may be next-day or within a few days. JWS checks part availability before scheduling so you know what to expect upfront.
Walk-ins are welcome, but booking an appointment ensures the right parts are ready when you arrive. Check the instant quote tool for pricing, or visit the iPhone repair and Samsung repair pages for model-specific details.
